Amazon Web Services has filed with the US Army Corps of Engineers Norfolk District to develop a seven-building data center campus in Virginia’s Louisa County. In this filing, REB Investment Company LLC and Amazon Data Services seek permission to establish a new data center campus on 153 acres on the east line of Kentucky Road in Louisa County, Virginia.

According to submitted site plans, the new campus would feature up to seven data center buildings, two ancillary buildings, an admin building, and two on-site substations. It would also include six two-story buildings offering 256,284 square feet and 12 ‘pods’ each, alongside a single two-story building offering 185,864 square feet and eight pods.

Last month, the Louisa County Board of Supervisors announced that Amazon is also planning to invest $11 million to construct two data centers in Louisa County. Patrick Henry district supervisor Fitzgerald Barnes said, “It’s great for our local economy, great for our tax base. We’re really excited about it.”

The proposal is open for comment until October 26.
