Amazon AWS: AWS expands data center footprint in Indonesia with significant investment

Further to AWS announcing that it is establishing its AWS Asia Pacific (Jakarta) Region, reports are now circulating that the giant will be investing an estimated $5 billion (IDR$71 trillion) in Indonesia across the 15 years through the region.

According to reports, this investment will cover everything from capital expenditures relating to the construction of data centers, in addition to operational expenses, and the purchasing of goods and services from regional businesses.

AWS says that this investment will create 24,700 jobs (direct and indirect) annually, including facility maintenance, engineering and construction.
