According to Bloomberg, Amazon Web Services plans to open a new data center region in Mexico. The report claims AWS is close to signing a deal with the Mexican federal government over opening a new region in Queretaro. Although no date has been set, an official report is expected soon.

Representative of Vortice IT, a cluster of technology firms in Queretaro, Jorge Buitron, Arriola, told Bloomberg that Amazon had revealed its plans to develop three facilities in Mexico. The minister of sustainable development at Queretaro, Marco Del Prete, didn’t deny or confirm talks with Amazon. However, he noted that Queretaro had become a hub for multinational firms to develop their data centers, with 26 under negotiation, announced, or already built.
