AWS has announced its plans to invest up to £1.8 billion ($2.37bn) in the UK over the next two years. The funds will go into developing and operating data centers. Worthy of note is that the company did not reveal how it would specifically spend the funds. A blog post by the company said it would be spending over £1.8 billion in developing and operating data centers in the UK over two years to meet the increasing customer demands in the area. It added that the investment would also help strengthen the digital infrastructure in the UK.

The VP and GM of AWS UK and Ireland, Darren Hardman, commented on the development. He said the company is happy with its impact on the UK’s economy. He added that the company also realizes that the UK has immense opportunities and potentials that it has not yet tapped into. The investment will put AWS in a driving position in the UK data center market.
