Digital Realty's Greek data center unit Lamda Helix has announced plans to develop its fourth data center in Athens, Greece. The company's data center campus currently has two carrier-neutral data centers with a total capacity of 22 MW. It is also developing two more on the site. Lamda Helix noted that ATH3- its third data center, is under construction and will come online in March 2023. Upon completion, the data center will have a capacity of up to 6.8MW across 92,500 square feet (8,600 square meters). Lamda Helix said it would be the largest data center in Greece.

ATH4, the newly announced building at the Athens campus, will deliver up to 6.8MW when it comes online in 2024. ATH3 and ATH4 will be connected to the company's existing ATH1 and ATH2 facilities. The CEO of Lamda Hellix, Apostolos Kakkos, said: "These new facilities will add needed capacity and further strengthen the connected data communities that have developed in our data centers. Our continued investment in Greece will provide critical infrastructure for the country, which is necessary for the acceleration of cloud and content providers' entrance into the market, and which further contributes to digital transformation and economic growth."

Lamda Helix was established earlier in 2022. The company was previously a cable landing station. It developed its first data center, Athens-1, in 2003 and opened its second, called Athens-2, in 2016. Digital Realty later acquired it in November 2020.
