Lancom has announced that it is developing a data center on Crete Island. The Greek telecommunication company said it would be developing the facility to Tier III standards. Lancom did not reveal its exact location, specifications, cost, or timeline details. However, it seems the data center called Balkan Gate Crete will be developed in Heraklion.

Lancom was established in 2009 by George Nolis. This will be the company’s fourth facility. Lancom’s Balkan Gate data center in the Kalochori area of Thessaloniki is the largest carrier-neutral facility in Northern Greece. The facility spans 26,900 square feet (2,500 square meters). It also has a capacity for about 500 racks. The data center can also be expanded to 107,600 square feet (10,000 square meters).
