Facebook: Meta Confirms Development of $800m Data Center in Kansas City

Meta has confirmed that it would be developing a data center in Kansas City. The Kansas City Area Development Council announced that the social media giant has chosen Kansas for its next data center development. Meta will be starting work at the site soon and the data center is scheduled to be in operation in 2024. The company plans to invest over $800 million in developing the facility. The facility would be sited at the Golden Plains Technology Park. It will also span 92,900 square meters (One million square feet) of space.

The director of community and economic development at Meta, Darcy Northnagle, said Meta is very happy to call the city its new home as it has a lot to offer. She added that there’s good access to fiber and infrastructure, an amazing pool of talent for operations & construction, and great community partners. Northnagle further reinstated that Meta is going to be a great neighbor while also investing heavily in the region.
