Facebook: Meta signs another solar PPA with EDPR

Meta has partnered up with EDP Renewables, it has announced. The energy company will supply solar energy in Texas via a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). The social media giant, will gain access to 156MW, procured from the 240MW Cattlemen Solar Park in Milam County, which EDP Renewables North America LLC (EDPR NA), a wholly-owned subsidiary, is set to construct, own and operate. 

Commenting on this development, Urvi Parekh, head of renewable energy at Meta, said: "As our global infrastructure continues to grow, partnerships like the one with EDP Renewables are increasingly important for us to meet our ambitious sustainability goals."

He added: "Investing in local communities is important to us, and we are proud that this project is bringing new solar energy to the grid, providing construction jobs, and contributing to local water savings."

Miguel Stilwell d'Andrade, CEO of EDP & EDPR, said: "EDP Renewables is pleased to collaborate, once again, with Meta on another renewable energy project." The project has seen an investment of $280 million and is expected to be up and running in 2023.
