Microsoft has announced that it added new availability zones to its Zurich Azure region. Availability zones are data center locations that are physically separate but still within the same cloud region, offering redundancy against failures in a particular location. Typically, most new regions launch with three zones. However, there have been some regions in the past that launched with one zone.

According to an announcement from the company, the new Availability Zones launching in Zurich, Switzerland, shows that the company is committed to providing businesses with security, data protection, and continuity in the cloud. Microsoft announced the launch of two Swiss Azure regions in 2019. Switzerland West is in Geneva, and Switzerland North is in Zurich. However, it appears that Microsoft has delisted the Geneva location.

Microsoft has been busy in recent days as it has added availability zones in South Africa and Norway.
