Microsoft has announced it has signed another PPA, this time, with ATCO Group. The PPA will enable the giant to procure solar energy in Canada from a 37MW Deerfoot solar project, which is adjacent to ATCO's 27-MW Barlow project. According to reports, the projects' construction will take place in spring this year, while energization will begin in the fourth quarter.

Speaking about the PPA, Kevin Peesker, the President of Microsoft Canada, said projects like this one are "key" to Microsoft to meeting its goal of "contracting 100 percent of our energy consumption with renewable sources by 2025." Adding: "This agreement with ATCO is an important step in helping Microsoft deliver on our renewable energy commitments in Canada."

Bob Myles, EVP of corporate development, ATCO, added: "This agreement represents ATCO's desire to be a leader in decarbonization and enable the energy transition for our customers. We're very pleased to work with Microsoft to achieve our shared objectives around renewable energy. Our focus, in a transitioning world of energy is to provide energy in a safe, affordable and reliable manner."
