In its latest move towards its sustainability pledge, Orange has announced that it has penned a 36MW Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with energy company Enertrag. This deal means that up to 30% of Orange Polska’s needs will be met with wind energy, from an offshore wind farm on the Vistula River built by the energy company. The wind farm, to be completed by 2024, will contribute 120 GWh of energy annually.

By 2040, the telco aims to achieve carbon neutrality, and this move is one in a long line that Julien Ducarroz, President of Orange Polska, says will help take them there. According to Ducarroz, this additional wind farm means that the company will be “halfway” to meeting its ambition to use “at least 60 percent of energy from renewable sources in 2025.”

Simon Hagedorn, Financial Director of Enertrag, commented: “We are very proud of our contribution to the Polish energy transformation. The negotiations with Orange were very constructive, and the agreement of a long-term corporate energy purchase agreement in less than three months underlines Enertrag's experience as a provider of PPAs.”
