Echelon is planning a large data centre campus at the former IFI site at Avoca River Park outside of Arklow.
The Arklow campus was approved in July 2019 and the first stage will be completed by Q3 2021. Stage 1 is a 35 MW and 155,000 sqft building. When complete the campus will offer upto 484,000 sqft of space and up to 100MW of power.
The site was sold for €10m through Arklow agent Raymond Gaffney and it is expected that the construction phase will create 450 jobs followed by another 90 positions to operate the facility.
Planning permission for the Arklow project is said to be imminent and, once approved, will see a 484,000 sq ft campus with a 100MW capactiy developed on the outskirts of the town.
